cookies enabled, still cant get access to gmail or facebook

Hi Guys

I have 2002 21" mac. I use Firefox and chrome.

As of last wk, i cant access my gmail accounts and Facebook via Firefox. Keeps popping up enable cookies. I have both on Firefox and chrome.

On chrome a new thing has started, every time i click on a link a new tab opens with all kinds of "offers" (book holidays, check your comp. for virus etc)."

Any ideas. Would appreciate your help/advice.

In both Firefox and Chrome, check your extensions for anything suspicious.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

I just checked, I couldn't see anything abnormal. I haven't made any changes to the extensions for quite sometime now.

Is there anything particular I should be looking for?

Do you think If I refresh Firefox and/or clean out the cookies. would that work?
