I am an obsessive multitasker and that seems to apply to when I am cooking as well. I know you have to multi-task as part of the cooking itself, but it extends beyond that. I am constantly trying to find stuff to do while I am cooking and I'm just wondering if I am alone on this one :p

In a perhaps related note, I am the only one that can stomach my own cooking(which I actually quite like), maybe there is a relationship there.

Usually when I cook it os prep time then cook time. While cooking I'm cleaning from the prep. There's little time for much else.

Generally I drink beer and listen to loud music while cooking. I never do other stuff on the side, though...that's a recipe for disaster. ;)

Well done!

It took me a while but, I got there. :D

As for the topic in hand, when I'm cooking that requires waiting (eg. a chili, where i put some ingredients in, wait for them to stew, then add more, wait, add, etc), I will do something else, such as read or maybe play a little bit of guitar. As for when I'm actually doing stuff like prep, I will put music on in the background and listen to it. Other than that, I don't do much else.

I'm not a huge cook, but I do cook for my family. Given that some recipes and foods need various levels of attention. I prefer not multitasking as the end result will be less then satisfactory.

Besides, is time that short that you need to do more then one thing at a time.

Well in between the time it takes for the kettle to boil and the pasta to cook I can do anything. Ranging from TV to watching the paint dry.

Music, tv, cleaning, etc. etc. etc.. I definitely multi-task while cooking. And it's a whole other level when you have children. At times you're cooking one handed while holding the little one in the other hand. I'm pretty good, but my wife is an expert. :D

Sometimes while cooking together we... multitask... if you know what I mean.... ;)
