I've found this free app called "hamachi" today and found it to be really useful. It's a VPN program that creates a virtual LAN network for multiple macs on internet. Of course, it supports protocol like Bonjour, so you can appletalk, sharing itunes, or iphoto virtually with anyone on internet. The OS X version is still underdeveloped, comparing to the Windows counterpart. Nevertheless, it works fine although it seems to be buggy for Bonjour.

With this there is really no need for a .mac service (!!!), unless one needs an email account from apple or publishing iweb via apple server. (I still have 9 months membership left, tho :( ) IMO, this could be something to look forward to from the next version of OS X, or even a newer type of service from .mac.

You guys should try it for yourself. The more people are using it, the more likely this will become big.

http://www.hamachi.cc
for using terminals' command lines
http://www.hamachix.com
with GUI, which still doesn't look so pretty.
