I just damaged my waterproof headphones and V-MODA's VIBE earphones look pretty cool. Kinda expensive though.

i must be missing something because i can't see a picture of those headphones on the linked website. i will say that $101 is a lot of money for headphones, especially since people are saying the new Apple ones are good and those are only $39 (i think).

The new apple earphones are no better than what you could get for $10 from Sennheiser or Sony. They're cheap packins like always.

$100 headphones sound completely different. My $99 Ultimate Ears sound a whole world better than the $30 generic apple ones. There's no one headphone quality, such that cheap headphones sound the same as expensive ones...no way are the apple pack ins in the same class as a pair of V Modas.

Don't touch noise cancelling headphones! EVERY pair that I've listened to seem to 'warble' details in the sound and seriously lack any kind of musicality. They all sound very 'clinical' and just not particularly fun to listen to...

The best in-ear headphones in terms of overall balance of sound quality/design/comfort/build quality and cost are the B&O A8s IMO.

I have a pair for my 80gb iPod, and I can't believe how fantastic it sounds, especially now that I'm ripping everything at a higher bitrate. Sounds better than my £130 ($210 in USA) Grado cans! Oooodles of bass for in-ears, and really comfortable. The rubber around the arm actually expands when you sweat so they grip your ear tighter... :D

is it me or is EVERYTHING going HD. I mean pretty soon there will be HD porn

Ehh.. HD porn has been the first thing HD. Porn companies are pioneer in video / audio technology, they have alot of "customers", alot of "profit" and alot of challenge considering there's so many different website.

For absolute perfection with budget in mind, the Shure e2cs are nice.

I have a set of these. The sound is stunning but bear in mind that the fitting of these to the ear is quite involved (they are meant as monitor headphones for stage use etc) and is hard to get them in and out easily. If you don't need that, then I'd say get them. They are a million times better than the Sony ex71s I had previously.

What do they mean by HD? There is no HD audio standard. More of the (very accomplished) marketing bullcrap from the manufacturer of those phones. As I understand it they're seeding various forums with 'reviewers' right now, so expect 'wow these are the bestest earphones evar!' comments soon on audio related forums.

Oh yeah, Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pro are worth considering.
