Hello,

What cool things can you do with Macs.

* Play games on them
* Easily create cool-looking screensavers with Quartz Composer
* Mess about with Dashbard, Expose, fast user switching, Photobooth, FrontRow
* Show off Ken Burns effect with soundtrack in iPhoto
* Produce really slick presentations in Keynote with sophistictated (yet simple and subtle) effects
* Pretend to be Steve Jobs and demonstrate how to create a DVD, Gargageband tune, magazine article or website in under five minutes.

This belongs in the Mac OSX thread. What do you want to do? Then we can tell you how to do it w/ tiger

You can take pictures of your computer's surroundings combined with screenshots, create a Powerpoint-esque presentation from those pictures, set it to music of your choosing, export it to Quicktime, transfer it to your server, post an appropriate encrypted blog entry, alert various people in your address book by email or phone (and giving them the decryption key), mark the event in your calendar, and watch it on your television in Ohio (with your computer sitting in Venezuela)... all by speaking instructions to it over the phone.

I think the question should be:

"What can you do with a Mac?" :)

Aaawwweeesome!

control + option + command + 8 is the only cool thing you can do on a mac

The effect that comes when pressing those keys reminds me of an old TV program late nights called "THe Darkside".

You are kidding?
You can be more productive than you think using a mac.

Yah. I'm kidding. Did you notice that I own a Mac? I also have nearly 2500 posts on a Mac forum. I also spelt "Mac" incorrectly to further convey the irony.

Looks like I snagged another little fishy.

You can put it to sleep and watch the light glowing!

I can't, the sleep light no longer works on my PowerBook and my G4 PowerMac no longer sleeps, I have to shut it down instead.:(

option-command and -

zooming goodness.

SHIFT-command and +

SHIFT-command and -

When ever I am showing off Mac OS X I always:

SHIFT-F9
SHIFT-F10
SHIFT-F11
SHIFT-F12

I take great pride in visiting my local PC world store, I hang around the Macs and then when a poor helpless salesman wanders into stricking distance the conversation goes like this:

"can I help you sir?"

"yeap, do you know anything about macs?"

"er, no not really"

"then I sir, can help you!"

I then normally (depending on the machines they have in stock), open up iTunes, iPhoto and set them to sharing. Switch on Airport. Press shift-F9/F10/F11/12, the perform a couple of spotight searches. Set iChat to Bonjour, and if front row is installed show them command-esc (that one really wows them!)

Next it is over to the next Mac, switch on sharing etc and start to stream iTunes, iPhoto and iChat. All within a few in a few minutes!!!!

Now that is what COOL with OS X!!!!!
