Cooler Vs. Elevator?

A cooler, because it will give a surface for the laptop to rid its heat onto. Air's specific heat capacity is not too great, nor is it a great conductor of heat. It is however, highly debatable. Some coolers may be more efficient, and there are some that don't work as well as they should, making the elevators more useful.

why not go for a bit of both? a little extra clearance, plus the added air flow from a few fans can't hurt right
