After waiting in a non iphone line today at the apple store to pick up my Black Macbook that hard drive failed. Well I got there and I realized I still had tiger on it. So I get in the car start it up and after set up I got Leopard on it for free! lol I was like this is nuts. So applecare covered my repair and I didn't have apple care and they said with the situation I had they would let it go. So I basically saved 350 dollars! What a day!

Congrats dude, I'm glad you saved so much money and got a free operating system upgrade! Maybe you can use some of that saved cash to upgrade to Snow Leopard for just $29 now? :D

See how awesome Apple can be xD

am i going to need specific information to upgrade? such as info on whom the comp is registered to? or is there like a full price for who ever owns a mac and then a cheaper price to upgrade ur current one?

The upgrade price from Leopard is £20, or $29. You won't need registry information I don't think...

If anything, it would be the disc itself checking to make sure you had Leopard in the past, not the Apple store.

That's pretty cool, but I can see why they made it. I don't think it necessarily luck, but since SL is coming they made you another one potential customer. Nice move and good for you that's for sure !!!
