OWC are tried, trusted, and true with many great reviews. I like mine a lot. However, the Coolgear uses the same Oxford 924 chipset, so I think you're ok with either. It's been my experience that the chipset makes a huge difference. I've had problems in the past mounting disks consistently when the enclosures were not Oxford chipsets.

It seems like the only way to do this (SATA in the enclosure connected via Firewire 800 to the iMac) is with the 924 chipset. And there are not a lot of options. Most are a bit pricey. I can't tell from the specs if any less expensive models that DO NOT have an SATA port to the outside world will accept and SATA drive on the inside. I do not need that, since my iMac won't connect that way anyway. So I think the $99 model may be the least I can get away with. Anybody think otherwise?
