Hello,

I just bought a brand new Coolmax CD-311 Combo hardrive enclosure today to store my Maxline Plus II 250 GB SATA HDD in. I have put in the drive and followed the manual to the T. When I turn on the drive, it whirs up, but nothing appears on the Desktop. I am running this through FireWire.

Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Thank you,
Jason

Hi, Jason

If you haven't done so, yet, check the back of the unit - there's a small key there, between the SATA and the USB ports, that has to be on the USB side for the disk to be plugged via USB or Firewire.
I've just installed a Barracuda 750 on a Coolmax like yours and, at first, had the same problem. Then I re-read the manual, switched the little button from SATA to USB and... voilá! my mac immediately offered to format the thing.

I hope this helps :)
