Hello.
I hope this is in the correct forum.
I have Macbook Pro with a PCIe SSD. It locks up in the middle of the boot, and all the typical start up repair possibilities have failed.
I'm going to re-install High Sierra, but I need to get the user account backed up to an external drive. I'd prefer not to image it, because of the OS corruption, and want to confirm that the backup is ok and readable on my other Macbook.
So, I'm in Terminal but have never used it before. It looks quite daunting. I sure could use some help in copying the user account to the external drive.
Thanks
EDIT: I tried Paragon Rescue Disk for some sort of GUI, but no matter how I formatted a USB stick, the "Create Bootable USB" kept failing. I tried 2 USB sticks as well.
