Copy iPhoto metadata as text..... how?

Hi, I need to get a copy of the metadata of some images to supply for a photo contest and I can't find away to copy the data. The box of info 'show photo info' disappears when I try to 'grab' the selected area, but I would much rather just have a text file. Control/option/command key don't work to copy the data, surely I'm just missing a simple solution........ any ideas?
