My itunes library was all imported as wav files...is there an easy way to convert them to a compressed format without having to import them all again? I don't want to put wav files on the ipod because it caused the 3G one to fry....because of the limited buffer size the little HD is constantly spinning and it just can't take it....

try this....

Go to Edit ---> Preferences... ---> Under the "Importing" tab: select the type of file you want in the drop down menu ("import using").

I believe you can select all the files in your library that you want to convert (the wav's) and right click on the highlighted ones and select "convert selection to format" (where format is the type of file you chose in the preferences.

I hope this is what you're looking for.
