I purchased two iMac's within the last month. The online up-to-date program allowed my wife's to go through, but not mine yet. Apparently this is a known issue. I've submitted the online request form to obtain a serial number by uploading a copy of my receipt. In the meantime, is it possible and/or legal to copy the image from my wife's computer and install it until I receive the code? Then when I receive the code, download the image for my own safe keeping on my app store account?

Seeing as you state that you bought a Mac in the time after the announcement, i dont see a problem why you wouldn't be allowed to just install your wife's Lion.
In case you have the same iTunes account you dont even have to worry at all.

We don't use the same account. But I didn't realize the image doesn't save after install. So I have to download it again anyways. It figures, she could care less about the upgrade and I am left waiting... lol.
