I am, at the moment, waiting for iLife '12 to release, before I update my stuff... So right now I am running iMovie '08.

In iMovie 09, there are quite a few new features iLike (<pun), and on my sisters macbook pro (Mid 2009), she is running iLife 09, as it was pre installed.

So my question, can I copy her iMovie .app to my mac? Will it work?

iMovie11 is even better than 09 with much more control over audio editing and volume. I'd recommend buying that, it's only about £/$10.

Waiting on release of iLife 12 (if any), as it should be soon. Right?
$15 here, just waiting for the best time and I can hold out a couple more months... I do use iMovie HD (aka iMovie 6) occasionally. Works like a charm still..

As all the iLife apps(and there's only three of them now) are available individually on the App Store, I'm not sure if we'll see another issue of iLife.

iMovie11(which is actually iMovie v9) is the latest version and has just been updated with v9.0.6, but that is for Lion users. The most up to date version for 10.5/10.6 is v9.0.4

iMovie8 really is rubbish, which is why I continued with iMovie6HD until iMovie11 came out.

Yes, you can move the app from one Mac to another and it will work just fine. Go to the applications folder on her computer, find iMovie, copy it on to a USB drive and copy it over to your applications folder. Everything should work just fine.
