Hi

I am looking to copy all of my old VHS videos to DVD can someone tell me exactly how I would go about doing that? Software, wires I may need etc etc

Or if someone can point me in the right direction where I can find a guide to doing this, that would be great.

Many thanks
Scot

I was hoping there would be a fairly cheap way of doing it. I understand that I will have to buy the DVD's at least, but I don't mind if it takes months before I have copied them all. I don't have a huge video library that I want to keep maybe 20 - 30 if that!

The adapter to connect a VHS deck to a computer is around 200 dollars for a bad one. And the time to import a 1 hour video, edit it, burn it, can easliy take a weekend for one video.

I actually offer this servce, but I don't have a web page

It is $30 per tape for a Basic Conversion
Nice picture background for the DVD, text label
with extra copies being $10

Advanced Conversion is $45
Motion background, editing if needed, chapter marks, etc.
Also, picture label.

That is the basic pricing, Private Message me for more.

Thanks for the offer, but I want to learn how and do it for myself - it's part of the fun :)

No problem. Just make sure that you have at least 20GB free on the main HD if you are using iMovie and iDVD...I have ~35GB free.

If you have an external one, try using it but I don't know how simple it is to import through 1 FireWire port and export it through another, but it is doable I think. Good Luck!
