Copy part of message

Is it really not possible to copy part of a text message/iMessage in ios16? I can only seem to copy the entire message

It doesn't seem like it, unless you take a screenshot and copy the text from that.

Surely its easier to copy the full message and delete the bits you dont need when you paste it.

I use this shortcut to edit what is currently copied as text (not only for messages it’s useable - for instance long links with refs can be reduced to real page etc.)
Shortcut is not mine, I don’t remember if it’s built it Apple or someone made it (thank you anyways whoever created it )

Actually it’s faster to hold on message and forward it and then edit and copy

Usually, yes. If the message is really long, not necessarily.

I screenshot the message as a loophole also. Crazy that we can select specific text from images but not from actual text
