Copy & Paste from iOS to Mac not working

How do I copy a document from my iPad and paste into into a document on the Mac?

As far as I remember Handoff, WiFi and Bluetooth must all be turned on. And all the devices must be using the same iCloud account.

They are. But I am trying to copy from IOS device to Mac. All the websites I have seen online are from mac to IOS device.

I've never used it myself. But I will try and see if I can get it to work.

Iphone is working fine from iBooks, just not the iPad. I had to copy into Notepad to get it to work from the iPad.

While not an iPad, I just copied something with my iPhone and immediately was able to paste it with my Mac.
