I manually saved some photos off of an iPhone by just copying them down from the iPhone device in My Computer for a friends phone that he was replacing with a new one. Is it possible to copy them back to his new iPhone without using iTunes? His phone isn't jailbroken so I don't think SSH is an option.

Apple has a pretty tight noose around their devices so you're mostly out of luck.

The app Picture Safe, though, will let you FTP images in and out of your iPhone using your favorite FTP program. It can also use web access for the transfer.

Email? Or am I missing something here? You could also just USB drive the pics over to his computer.
