I recently bought a Samsung External DVD RW 'cause I thought my Matchita internal Superdrive in my ( 5 year old ) G5 was dead ...It would not burn anything ....

After a bit of reading / searching, someone on a Mac forum said I should try different discs, and slower speed before hucking out the old drive out... and wow ! It burned a CD at 2X.
Another helpful person suggested a blast of dust free air... and double wow !! .. After the air it now burns a CD at 8X...
So, since I now own a sort of working Matchita internal, and a Samsung External... Is it possible to burn from the internal disc drive to the external drive ... so that it doesn't need to make a hard disc copy, but can just go disc to disc..... presumably a bit faster ??
Toast does not seem to offer THAT as an option, but I am sure there are other programs to rip a DVD ...
Thanx
