Copying files not working

I have a PowerBook G4 running 10.4.11; I have a question about transferring files.

I download podcasts that I attempt to save on an external hard drive. I highlight the files in iTunes and then attempt to move them to the folder on my external hard drive.

If there are any files that have been copied already, none of the files are copied at all.

Is there any way to change this?

Is it just a quirk of 10.4?
