Here is the situation. We have a mac server with several network shares. Several users access it over SMB or AFP protocols (mixed environment). A lot of times users have to copy big files (30-50GB) between the network shares which are all local to the mac server. The problem is, in most cases the users are connecting to Wi-Fi and copying process takes forever - several hours or more.
Is there a way to copy files between two network shares that are local to the same system without hitting the network? I know that if a user remotes into the mac server than the file copy would be local therefore, its copy performance wouldn't be limited by the network speed. Is there any other way to achieve the same without locally logging to the mac system?
I appreciate any information on this matter
