I'm running lion on an i-mac and have adobe acrobat 10.6. I'm working a project that requires extensive research so I have to use a lot of pdfs. I can open a long pdf document but I haven't been able to copy parts of it for notes. Can anyone tell me how to copy from a pdf with the free version of acrobat?

Can you just use Preview to open the PDFs or will it not open them? I can copy just fine in Preview. That is if the PDF is not locked for copying. Are the PDFs locked for copying?
