I want to move my collection of photos from my MacBook to my iMac. I went into Finder, copied the iPhoto Library folder onto an external hard drive, and them downloaded the iPhoto Library folder onto my iMac. The folder was 50 MB and I seem to be able to open the photos on the iMac now.

Have I copied/imported the actual files by doing it this way? Before I delete anything from my MacBook I want to make certain. Please help!

iPhoto Originals.

The photos are stored within the contents of that file. If you want to be certain an easy way to retrieve those original photo files is to...

Navigate to your iPhoto Library file -> Right Click -> Show Package Contents -> Originals.

The 'Originals' folder contains all of your original photos imported.
