they will show up soon, just in time for OSX 10.6 maybe.. 
to be honest, I don't see this to be a major issue, cross-platform apps probably won't pay too much attention to it. and there aren't many primary OSX apps.
Maybe Core Animations are just those animated effects which are drawn with graphic card. I don't really understand neither.....

From the sounds of things, Delicious Library 2 (currently in vaporware status) will use Core Animation a lot.
