Core Duo Macbook Pro Wifi Card/Airport Upgrade?

I'd like to upgrade the 802.11b/g Atheros wifi card to an 802.11n, and I noticed that the official Airport uses the Atheros AR5008 chipset. I was wondering if Apple's drivers would recognize a regular AR5008 not sold under the Airport name.

You can get the Atheros AR5008 or the Broadcom BCM4322.
