So, I just got a 13" core i5 MBA, and I read all over online that people had used Final Cut with it and it was surprisingly fast. I just started to work with my first footage on it today, and though the 1080p video plays fine with no lag in QuickTime and Finder, when it's put into Final Cut (7 and X), it stutters badly. What's going on here? I have nothing else running. I even converted the video clips down to 720p, and it still lags just the same. Again, this only happens in Final Cut; once the video is playing in a regular media player, it handles the 1080p video fine. Help!

Is it converted to Pro Res? 1080 HD what? hdv, avchd, dvc pro, hd cam????

I reckon you are editing on the raw files. Which is not good because they are compressed etc.

Make sure you click 'Use proxy' on the settings tab, so that they are converted for smoother editing performance.
