Hi,

Just trying to use the free FX from Core Melt, in particular the god rays filter. Unfortunately my 2012 cMBP is rendered almost inoperable when using this on one 720p keyed video track, layered with two other video tracks.

The CPU usage is minimal, there is little action from fans, but the whole interface just becomes incredibly unresponsive. Even sharing the video is taking forever, with FCP taking about 130% of the processor (400% max I assume?).

Is this filter incompatible with Ivy Bridge or something? I thought upgrading (from a 2008 C2D) to a quad-core CPU and the fastest GPU in a Macbook would be rapid in every respect.

I restarted a couple of hours ago. My page outs are at 5.6 GB (page ins at 1.8 GB) with 8GB RAM / 750 GB HDD.

Grateful for any insight from anyone.
