"coreaudiod" keeps eating up CPU

See image. Whilst it's not really a problem, it makes the CPU hotter and the fans whir up and it seems to be just when I'm idle.


This happens randomly, there seems to be no pattern to it. It's not causing any harm or any audio problems, but any idea why this may be happening?

Repair permissions? Restart? Try creating a new account and see if the problem persists.

I have the same problem

It suddenly started appearing today. It is using 18-19% of my processor power, which makes the fans blow harder than they should. This is annoying since I cannot locate the reason for this. I only installed and deinstalled "LittleSnitch" today.

I restarted the computer, to no avail.

I've noticed some processes doing that. Have you tried killing it in Activity Monitor?
