Correct settings for mail app with gmail and google apps?

What are the proper settings for mail app that is connected to gmail and google apps accounts? After i upgraded to Mavericks i started noticing that after i send email out in mail app I get a copy of it in my drafts folder which is weird.

another question is is there a better email client than built in mail app?
