Correct way to connect the Milanese Loop?

Hi

Yesterday I took off my band to clean it. When I had to put it back on, I noticed there was no lettering, that I could see, unlike other bands. The only thing I noticed is that one way there was a click when you slid the band through and the other way it seemed to freely move back and forth.

Is there any way to visually tell which way to attach the end parts to the watch? There does not seem to be an obvious top and bottom.

If the lugs slide right through the watch it’s upside down.

Also the magnets won't fasten if it's on back to front, so it should be pretty obvious.
