I've searched and learned that this is a common wear and tear issue but haven't been able to find if it's anything to actually take initiative and 'fix' before it gets worse with time.

On the right side of my MBP, the edge where my palm rests most of the time, is some corrosion/tiny pitted areas where the aluminum has corroded... this is what I'm talking about, is it something I need to fix or will it all hold up from getting inside, etc..?

Get a skin, you can get ones that will protect the entire mac or just the palm rest area.

They also come in clear, or carbon fibre or colourised.

Might not fix your issue, but it'll stop it from getting worse.

Get a wireless keyboard and trackpad if possible so you dont touch and sweat on the notebook itself all the time if possible.

Wash your notebook and yourself periodically. I've only witnessed pitting from people that sweat a lot and/or that don't clean their laptop.

Don't worry, it's just an aesthetic blemish (or take it as a patina).
