Hello all,

I was giving my old 3G iPhone to my cousin, and low and behold.. the SIM card reader is broken and must be replaced.

Does anyone know how expensive this actually is to do? The phone, obviously, is no longer under the Apple Care protection plan.

I'm just curious if anyone has ever had to have something like this replaced on their phone. Thank you!

If you are talking about the phone not reading cards then the entire logic board needs to be replaced. This is the most expensive part of the phone and would probably run about $200 for a iPhone 3G. I have never heard of a logic board failing to recognize a sim card so you may want to do some troubleshooting before spending the money on the part.
