Hello there, Macrumors forums.

I saw the 5S and was intrigued, so I dialed the upgrade number for AT&T and they said I am eligible for an upgrade. :D I am also planning to sell my excellent condition iPhone 4S to Apple. What is the total exact cost for buying a 16GB iPhone 5S on an upgrade?

Thank you,

LPDAL :D

When I used to have AT&T they charge you for the price of the phone obviously and then an "upgrade fee", which is I think $36. Basically you are paying $36 for an employee to type some numbers into a computer.
As far as trading your phone you may want to consider selling it yourself since you'll get more money. But it can also be a pain in the --- so if you want to avoid any hassle go with the trade in.

The last few times I have been able to get the $36 upgrade fee waived. All I did was call the customer service number and they waived it. When I inquired in the store they said they cannot do it in the store, but the toll free customer people could, of course depending on how your account has been managed.

So doing the math....

$199
+$36 upgrade fee
+6% Florida sales tax=$14.10
=$249.10

So about $250, okay.

Also, do you have to be 18 years old to upgrade?
