I bought my daughter the iPod touch with the camera and she accidentally dropped it and broke the screen. How much will apple charge at the genius bar to replace it?

The Apple store will probably charge you full cost of the iPod touch. However, it might be worth taking it in anyway. I did that once with a busted glass iPhone and the Genius suggested a repair shop in the area that would replace the screen for less (can't remember now what I paid, I think $100).

whatever the price to buy it new

Not true - you can get out of warranty service from Apple for things such as this (as long as it's not in multiple pieces), and it's a lot cheaper than the original price. For example, out of warranty service for a 4th gen 64gb is $199.

If you bring it in, you might find a nice enough Genius to replace it for free. You never know-- there have been many stories like this.

Thanks! I just found that link too. Looks like 100 dollars. I'll try my luck this weekend! Thanks to everyone else for your response

Yes, bring your daughter with you, and have her do the talking. My niece gave a tearful account of dropping her Touch, and they replaced it for free.
