Could Apple make SDR content brighter with a future update on new MBP’s?

I’m curious to know if Apple could take the 500 nits of brightness peak on SDR off the new mini led MacBook Pro’s with an update to match the HDR brightness?
 
Sure, but they won't. Have you seen the battery complains now? Imagine if you were scrolling through Safari with 1000 nits. You'd have a dead battery in an hour.
