Could someone clarify for me? Jailbreak newbie!

I'm hoping to jailbreak my iPhone 4! Could someone clarify some points for me?

I want to be able to unlock my iPhone 4, currently on version 4.1 (shsh saved), base band 02.10.04.

I have heard (possibly misheard) that since there is currently no unlock for this basband, I shouldn't jailbreak until the unlock comes out. Is this true, or could I jailbreak and have no consequences?

If I do jailbreak, what should I use? Limerain or greenp0ison? Should I take any precautions before jailbreaking?

You can jailbreak without having to unlock. I'd also use Limera1n, it worked fine for me.

Confirm you can JB without any consequences. However, i would advise against updating to 2.1.1 until the unlock is released and we have a better understanding of the requirements for the unlock.

What do you mean by 2.1.1? Do you mean iOS 4.2.1?

Sorry don't know where my head was I meant 4.2.1.
