Something no-one's mentioned...

Does anyone think that when the new MBP's come out they will be more expensive to make a bigger divide between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro?

Would you pay the higher price?

I really hope this will not happen but I guess it could be possible.

Apple has held their prices fixed for a while (on laptops of course *cough* iphone price drop *cough*) so I would say no. But I see your concern.

I am certainly no authority on this however I wouldn't think so. The Macbook Air is a product that is really catering to a niche market in my opinion. It is just a macbook lt so to speak where as the MBP has always something under the hood. :D

all the years i have been a mac user, prices have never risen. prices may drop as new stuff comes out, but you wont see it rise.

Oh contraire!

When the smaller iMac was discontinued last summer, the price did indeed "shift" upwards. While it can't be considered an increase, it can be considered a shift to a more expensive price point (which although unlikely with the mbp, is still a possibility).

Nonetheless, I voted "no" in the poll. The odds of if happening are incredibly low.

you got me there, but in my own self defense, i was talking about macbook pros, and G4s.

IIRC, you're quite correct in that regard.

When the conversion to Intel took place, I believe the base 15" Powerbook was a little more than $2000 (was it $2099?) and when "macbook pro" was the new moniker, the price dropped.

Why would they increase the price just to set a price/product difference? If the price indeed raises it will be because of the features/hardware.

One more thing. MBA and MBP have nothing to do with each other. Two complete different worlds.

There is just no comparison possible!
