I know there has been talk of eye strain and such with the OLED screen but I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing the following issue or could to speak to it?

When I’m scrolling Facebook, it’s seems like pictures very quickly pulse a white light or the feed stutters slightly as it scrolls. If someone posts a lot of pics, they do the same quick white pulse as I scroll them. I don’t recall seeing this before but I was always on an LCD screen. In you’re opinion do you think this could be OLED? Or just an app issue?

Edit: this is in the XS Max

Perhaps you can do a screen recording and post it here? Does it also happen when using Instagram?

I think I know what you’re referring to.. but I could be wrong. Try changing the setting reduce motion. I feel like that made a difference for me.

You are describing the same thing as the Eye strain thread. Why didn't you post in that thread, instead of making a new thread on the same subject?
Oh, you mean the thread where there are over 50 pages of people discussing eye strain and eye fatigue (which I don’t experience), discuss flickers that are not suggested to be noticeable to the eye, but happen and cause strain to those who are sensitive (what I see are bright flashes), and full of users who state it’s consistent throughout their phone use (not just a particular app as in my case)? That’s why I started a new thread. But I do apologize for inconveniencing you in the forums. God forbid your experience be ruined by having to ignore another thread. Oh wait, you didn’t ignore it.

I’ve noticed that these OLED screens tear as you scroll fast. Maybe I’m so used to Promotion on my 10.5” iPad, but it’s horribly noticeable compared to my 7+.

Think the fact you were using Facebook is more concerning. lol

I see flashing pictures in that video. That is very weird, because OLED isn't supposed to do that.
That’s why I didn’t post in the other thread(s). I didn’t think this was the same issue others are discussing. It doesn’t do it on the safari version so maybe it’s an app issue. But at least I now know it’s not just me who can see it. Thanks!

So weird. I was able to replicate this, never noticed before. Seems to be just Facebook. Have you noticed it anywhere else?

Edit: it took me a while to replicate it, I was about to post it wasn’t happening to me but then I noticed it. Had to be scrolling fairly quickly. Seemed random also.

Yeah, that’s definitely not a screen issue. That’s just a weird app issue.
I’ve deleted it and downloaded it several times to no avail. I’ve now tracked down a few friends who upgraded and they are not experiencing it. Oh well. As long as it’s not OLED specific I’ll use it as a reason to quit fb lol.

Facebook seems now to be the only place I see it, and in the app so I’m hoping it’s isolated. It happens on my phone even with slow scrolling. It’s odd.
