iPhone XR Countdown timer only sometimes shows on Lock Screen

Is there some kind of rhyme and reason to when the countdown timer shows the remaining time on the Lock Screen? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t! I’m on a Xʀ running 14.1...

I’m sure it always used to, but now it’s sporadic!

I’m seeing the same thing on my X. Really annoying.

I've seen it mentioned here before. Same issue for me, for a while now. It's definitely annoying.

My advice:
When a certain version of iOS seems to work fine with no problems, don't upgrade it ever again unless you're willing to roll the dice.

I noticed with my XR after switching to iOS 14 that the timer wouldn't show on the lock screen but it only seemed to start after adding the clock widget to my main home screen. With the switch to the 12 Pro, I didn't add the clock widget and everything is functioning correctly.
