Couple of dumb questions (calendar and editing txt)

#1 - Since I got the Iphone, I have missed a few appointments / events. Mostly, because I don't hear or miss the alerts.

In previous phones (windows mobile), the phone would not stop alerting me (ring / vibrate) until I payed attention to it. Is it possible to make it like that?

#2 - Some times, when I'm typing a msg, I would like to go back and change something in the middle of a word... example:

"Do not use a geneWric title"

I would like to use my finger and place the cursor right where the "W" is at "geneW|ric" and erase it. Instead I keep getting the cursor in the beginning or the end of the word, I don't know how to move it to the center of the word without erasing the whole word!

Not too sure if the first one is possible, but to edit the middle of a word, simply tap and hold on the screen and then move the cursor to the position in the word that you would like to change. You should see a "magnified" version of the word to help move to the exact place.

You can set more than 1 alarm for events, perhaps that might help you.
