So, I have a couple of questions after using Yosemite for a bit.

First change I noticed: When you used to adjust the volume with the keyboard volume control, it would make a noise that got louder/quieter, depending on if you turned up/down the volume. There is now no audio notification when I increase/decrease volume. Is this a systemwide change that others have noticed as well?

My other question is that every App in the applications folder now displays the file-extension name: .app, after every app. For example, what used to be Chrome is now Chrome.app. What is the reasoning behind this change?

Hold the option key and press a volume up or down button to get to preferences. There's a checkbox for audio feedback for volume changes.
