Why doesn't the Macbook air support Wireless display?

And it seems like the Macbook air does not have a ir sensor?
 
It's a decision apple made. Only they know why. One could pontificate it would interfere with appletv sales.

The question now is, is this a hardware limitation or software? I wonder if wireless display would work on Windows 7?
