How long does it usually take after apple announces a new product for it to start shipping? (For example a new MBP)

Also what is the best way to armor ur MBP to insure resale value?
(is there an otterbox for MBPs?)

Also the Ivy Bridge runs hotter than sandy bridge, as well the new MBPs are gonna be thinner. Heat issues seem likely, I hope Apple doesnt underclock the hardware...

No. You can purchase a Speck cover or something like that, but there's nothing like an Otterbox that I'm aware of. Even putting a cover on it won't guarantee that it stays in good condition. The best way to keep it in good shape is just to take care of it. Avoid having beverages and food around it. Try not to drop it. Realize that if it gets a bump or a dent that it's not the end of the world. MBPs tend to hold their value well, and a small bump or ding isn't going to drop the value that much.
