So I never had this problem until recently. Whenever i open finder in cover flow, instead of showing previews (of jpegs, tiffs, .mov, .psds, .ppt, whatever) cover flow just shows a placeholder (whatever file format it is). ive been looking through options but i cant figure out how to turn it back on. any ideas?

Ahh thats a glitch, sometimes quicklook for whatever reason forgets to generate thumbnails of the files.

You can restart your mac, or even easier restart Finder. To do that:

Go to apple logo in the top corner of the screen, click that and then choose "force quit" a force quit box appears with all the apps you have running ATM. Choose "Finder" and click to force quit it. It will open back up right afterwards.

Coverflow not working is a good thing. :)

I actually love Coverflow. I use it for my Applications folder and Utilities folder for browsing, the icons are big and easy to browse through files. I don't use it in iTunes but Coverflow is key for the Finder.
