I was wondring if you could help me.. or actually my coworker.
She was given an iphone4 that was my bosses. Now, when she goes to sync it to her itunes the phone comes up as his name. She has created her apple id but would like to change a few things on the phone. I personally can't figure it out so I thought I'd ask here.

How can she change the name on the phone when it's plugged in to itunes?
How can she keep the apps that were already installed on the phone?
How can she keep some of the music that is on the phone?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Settings/store and there she can log out of his account and log into hers in order to download her own apps.
If she syncs with her library his songs and apps will be gone and only hers will be transfered.
The iphone name can be change when the phone is plugged into itunes.

Reset all settings and delete all data. SETTINGS>GENERAL>RESET

You guys missed the part where she wants to keep the apps and music already installed?

You can't do that. The apps as well as any music downloaded through iTunes is tied to the original Apple ID/iTunes account. There may be a way to keep non DRM music but that's about it. In short you have to do an erase and reset all and then set it up under the new account/ID.

Yes, pretty much what I was trying to explain.
Unless she wants to leave it as is with his apps and music installed and then log into her itunes and download the apps she wants using the appstore on the phone.

The name can be changed if she clicks on the name once in the left column under devices. If the phone is running iOS 5, she could also change the name on the phone itself.

She can keep the apps, but only if she never updates the phone and never syncs it to iTunes. Or she redownloads them with her bosses iTunes account.

Some programs like iExplorer are able to extract the music files (only unprotected mp3s, that is). She could do that and reimport them into iTunes.

Seriously, just tell her to reset the phone and buy the music and apps herself.

Not very practical as if nothing else those apps can't be updated in future.
