Hi Guys & Girls...

My 13" Macbook Pro (early 2011) runs well, EXCEPT when I start it up (or reboot), the CPU stays at 100% for 10-15 mins. The fans scream at 6200 rpm & the temp is 205 to 207deg for the whole time.

I use iStat Menus and can see that the processes mds, mds_stores, mdworker are using all the CPU for 10-15 mins.

After the 207deg & 15 min episode, everything calms down to a more respectable 130deg and CPU use of @ 10% and the machine is very responsive.

Does anyone here know in what direction I need to go to solve this issue?

A million thanks for your replies, IAN... :)

PS: the screenshot below shows the first 10mins after start-up or rebooting...

That's what I thought also. I have selected to EXCLUDE my Carbon Copy disk & myTime Machine disk from Spotlight, yet it still take 15mins when I startup or reboot.

The 15mins is not the big issue, but the 207deg temps for 15 mins everytime it reboots (or starts up) concerns me... :(
