Okay here's the story in brief.

Roughly 3 months ago, the internal sound on my powerbook g4 (1.67GHz 1GB ram) stopped working efficiently. A red light started emerging from the headphone jack. I read everywhere, tried the tooth pick, tried as much as possible. Still doesn't work. I get bits of sound here in there for a second or two but that's it. This all arose mysteriously when I got and setup an airport express for airtunes. Streaming music works fine, just no headphones or internal speakers.

Now about two months ago, my cpu started becomeing extremely bogged down with % user at 100%.

Sorting by cpu usage, generally loginwindow and usereventagent will hog a ton of cpu around 30-60 each on average, core audio will jump in along with kernal_task and will briefly lag horribly around 30 - 40 as well. Simple tasks such as playing a chess game will consume 50-60 of my cpu.

soo annoying. my hd has currently 22.28 of 93 GB free

any help
