CPU replacement on non-retina imac?

I don't need a retina display and I'd like to have a Nvidia card for CUDA applications. I would however like the new 4ghz i7 CPU. It would have been nice for apple just to include that as an upgrade but of course they didn't. What's the likelihood of being able to update the CPU myself?
 
The CPU on the 27" is socketed and can be upgraded. The CPU on the 21" is soldered on and not upgradeable.
