** I MIGHT have found where the problem lies. Windows is currently only seeing one CPU and not two**
So I grabbed myself a copy of Windows 8 pro 32bit (MacBook is 64bit) and the install went well. Followed instructions, installed drivers etc and windows was up and running via boot camp.
So I'm having a few problems, one is that Windows stutters like crazy, videos are very choppy and the overall performance of windows 8 is not good. There is a serious lag when doing basic browsing and switching apps. My fan is on full blast most of the time even when let to sit for 15 minutes. Parts of certain apps are scratched out which made me first think it was a graphics problem. I monitored task manager when watching videos etc and noticed that my CPU is running at 100% nearly all the time.
The other problem is when I hit restart in windows and go back into os x I get a kernel panic right after entering my password (using file vault so the password is right at the beginning of boot). The system restarts and then logs into os x with no problems.
Also, my backlight in my keyboard is not working, none of my apple keys (such as those for volume) are not working and I can't change brightness, Windows just tells me it's unavailable.
I have a gut feeling that certain drivers are to blame but no sure how to go forward. Where do I get the right drivers for my machine for windows and how do I stop the kernel panics on boot. Why am I even getting panics in os x after a boot camp install?
Here is the panic log file for those that can make sense of it:
...and here are some specs of my machine.
MacBook 5.1 unibody with 100+GB SSD.
4GB Ram
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
I have tried resetting PRAM and SMC which worked in getting rid of kernel panics but they started happening again soon after. The panics are only happening at boot. Hope this all helps and would love if someone had an ideas.
