I've used my computer everyday this week at school at home. At school I usually only have safari/textedit open. My cpu temp NEVER GOES ABOVE 45C
no matter what I'm doing since I just take notes/surf the internet.

Last night I decided to update to 10.6.1. I was playing some odst, but I decided to leave my computer on and just shut it down thinking that when i switched it back on tomorrow (today) that the update would take affect. os x does say I have 10.6.1 but as soon as i switched my computer with text edit running my cpu temperature shot to 60c and its stayed that way up till now.

I can't find my cpu being used by some random processed but as I'm a real temperature freak, this is kind of annoying. Has anyone had this problem with 10.6.1 (10.6 is fine).

My computer is a Late 2008 15" u Macbook pro

no one else is having this problem? :( i might just reinstall snow leopard then

Is the 9600M GT enabled?

And this isn't a problem, it's you being paranoid.

No it is disabled.

And how am I being paranoid when I have concrete evidence when I have my cpu temp being reported in both smcFancontrol and iStat menus to be 20c hotter?

Are you telling me that both those programs including the nerves in my hand is the result of me being paranoid?

I'm having the same problem, even after a clean installation.
As far as I can tell it's related to sleep cycles.
After putting the system to sleep, on the first wakeup it runs fine.
By the second or third wakeup, the system runs 10-20° warmer.
A shutdown or reboot will almost always clear up the issue.

I have the same problem with my macbook pro unibody and imac 24 early 2008 ,I got high temp after install SL
did any one know how to fix

On my MBP I had hot temperatures with Leopard, CPU up to 65-70c sometimes when watching a video, normally 50-60.

No change with SL.
